How to read this page
In Estonia, PFAS-4 is not published. The pages show the sum of 20 PFAS (PFAS-20) against the EU limit of 100 ng/L; results below the laboratory's reporting limit are given with that limit ("<30 ng/L"). As soon as a source itemises the four EFSA compounds, the page switches to the PFAS-4 display with no other change.
Each municipality shows the water supply system with PFAS results, otherwise the largest system sampled in the current period. Estonian laboratories publish PFAS without a "<" sign; when every compound and the sum carry the same value, this site reads it as a reporting limit, not a measurement (confirmation requested from Terviseamet).
Legal limits and dates in Estonia
Estonia transposes the EU Drinking Water Directive in regulation no. 61 of the Minister of Social Affairs (sotsiaalministri määrus nr 61): "PFASide summa" (sum of 20 PFAS) at most 0.10 µg/l, that is 100 ng/L. There is no national PFAS-4 limit; the health reference is EFSA's 4 ng/L. This site's 0.5 ng/L benchmark is stricter than both.
Sources, regulators and licences
In Estonia, Terviseamet (the Health Board) supervises the drinking water suppliers under regulation no. 61 of the Minister of Social Affairs and publishes the samples per water supply system (veevärk) as open data of the VTI system. This page shows them per municipality (omavalitsus).

Frequently asked questions
How much PFAS is in tap water in Estonia?
This page summarises the official PFAS results in the tap water of 78 cities in Estonia, published by Terviseamet. The published value is the sum of 20 PFAS (PFAS-20), in nanograms per litre (ng/L); the four EFSA compounds (PFAS-4) are not itemised. The most recent result dates from 7 July 2026. 17 of the 78 cities have a PFAS result, 1 of them a quantified value; the others are below the laboratory's reporting limit. The EU limit for the sum of 20 PFAS is 100 ng/L. No PFAS-4 value that this site could compare with its 0.5 ng/L benchmark is published.
Which city in Estonia has the highest PFAS-20 value?
Tallinn: 3 ng/L (3 % of the EU limit of 100 ng/L), result of 17 November 2025. Source: Terviseamet, veeterviseohutuse infosüsteem (VTI) avaandmed, veevargi_veeproovid_2026.xml. The 20 highest values are in the table above.
Which PFAS limits apply in Estonia?
Estonia transposes the EU Drinking Water Directive in regulation no. 61 of the Minister of Social Affairs (sotsiaalministri määrus nr 61): "PFASide summa" (sum of 20 PFAS) at most 0.10 µg/l, that is 100 ng/L. There is no national PFAS-4 limit; the health reference is EFSA's 4 ng/L. This site's 0.5 ng/L benchmark is stricter than both.
Is tap water in Estonia safe to drink?
In Estonia, Terviseamet (the Health Board) supervises the drinking water suppliers under regulation no. 61 of the Minister of Social Affairs and publishes the samples per water supply system (veevärk) as open data of the VTI system. This page shows them per municipality (omavalitsus). Against the EU limit of 100 ng/L for the sum of 20 PFAS, no covered city is non-compliant. No PFAS-4 value is published in Estonia, so a comparison with Sweden's 4 ng/L limit or this site's 0.5 ng/L benchmark is not possible. What a result means for you is explained on your city's page.
Where does this data come from?
All values come from official publications: Terviseamet, veeterviseohutuse infosüsteem (VTI) avaandmed. Last retrieved on 28 September 2026; the site refreshes the data weekly, and the latest result date on each city page is authoritative.
How do I cite these figures?
Name the city, the sample date shown on the page, the source and the page URL. The "Source and citation" block below and on every city page contains a ready-made citation sentence; each source's licence is listed next to it.
