Terms of use
pfasnearme is a free information service. It gathers water-quality results published by authorities and utilities, lays them out per city and compares them with benchmarks explained on the methodology page. We measure nothing ourselves and we are not an official source. In case of doubt, the publications of the competent authority or utility prevail.
We do our best to reproduce the data faithfully and refresh it weekly, but reading, conversion or update errors are possible. The site is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or currency. To the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for decisions taken on the basis of the site; liability for intent or gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health is not excluded.
The texts, calculations, charts and JSON files produced by pfasnearme are published under the CC BY 4.0 licence. You may reuse them, commercially too, by crediting "pfasnearme" with a link to the page concerned. The measurements themselves remain under the licence of their source, stated on every page and on the sources and licences page. Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0)
Links to third-party sites are provided for information; their content is their publishers' responsibility. We may change the site or these terms at any time; the online version applies. Finnish law governs, without depriving a consumer of the mandatory protection of the law of the country where they live.
Funding and affiliate links
pfasnearme is funded in part by affiliate links to water filters. When you buy after clicking a link marked "Ad · affiliate link", the seller pays us a commission; the price you pay does not change. These links appear only on pages whose PFAS-4 result reaches our 0.5 ng/L benchmark and on the filter comparison page. The water results, their presentation and the benchmarks do not depend on the partners in any way; the filter facts come from the manufacturers' and certifiers' documents, not from the partners. We receive nothing for the order or choice of products.
Paid links. Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This disclosure follows the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255).
Health information disclaimer
Nothing on this site is medical advice. The values, benchmarks and explanations describe the water quality of a network, not your personal situation. For any health question, in particular during pregnancy, for an infant or in case of illness, talk to a doctor. For any question about your water, contact your utility or the competent health authority; their instructions prevail.
Our 0.5 ng/L benchmark for PFAS-4 is a documented proposal, not a legal limit; water "above our benchmark" can be fully compliant. The US EPA has set enforceable limits of 4.0 ng/L for PFOA and for PFOS and a health goal (MCLG) of zero for both. The filters shown are described by the certifications and tests their manufacturers publish; we never claim that a filter removes a given percentage of PFAS or guarantees reaching a benchmark.
Corrections policy
You see a mistake, a misread value, a city attached to the wrong network, a source cited wrongly? Write to rapport@pfasnearme.com with the page address. We acknowledge within 2 working days and correct or explain within 5 working days.
An accepted correction is published with its date on the page concerned and in its JSON file. Readers who had received the wrong value by email receive a correction message. We do not delete quietly; what was published and then corrected stays identifiable as such.
Takedown requests
Data published under an open licence (Licence Ouverte, Flemish model licence, CC BY, NLOD) or by public bodies subject to re-use law is reproduced as of right; we answer a takedown request by citing the licence and the attribution, and remove nothing.
Data taken from utility publications without an open licence is reproduced with full attribution and withdrawn page by page, within 5 working days, if the utility asks. The page stays online with the note "values withdrawn at the source's request on {date}", its JSON history keeps the revisions without the values, and no email is sent for that city. Sources whose terms require prior consent are never published without it.
Trademarks
Names of products, manufacturers, water utilities and authorities cited on the site are trademarks of their owners and are used only to refer to them. Any logos come from the libraries their owners make available and are used under their terms.
