How to read these numbers
This page lists all 261 community water systems in Massachusetts with UCMR 5 PFAS results, across 14 counties. We compare each one with our 0.5 ng/L PFAS-4 benchmark and with the 4.0 ng/L federal MCL for PFOA and PFOS, which applies from April 2029. UCMR 5 results do not indicate compliance or noncompliance with the PFAS drinking water standards. The samples come from entry points, with 3 to 4 ng/L reporting limits. Massachusetts also enforces its own PFAS MCLs under 310 CMR 22.07G (table above). State agency: Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), Drinking Water Program. State monitoring: quarterly compliance monitoring since 2021 (large systems) and 2022 (small systems); results on the EEA Data Portal up to 30 days after submission.
