How to read these numbers
This page lists all 320 community water systems in New York with UCMR 5 PFAS results, across 60 counties. We compare each one with our 0.5 ng/L PFAS-4 benchmark and with the 4.0 ng/L federal MCL for PFOA and PFOS, which applies from April 2029. UCMR 5 results do not indicate compliance or noncompliance with the PFAS drinking water standards. The samples come from entry points, with 3 to 4 ng/L reporting limits. New York also enforces its own PFAS MCLs under 10 NYCRR Subpart 5-1 (table above). State agency: New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Bureau of Water Supply Protection. State monitoring: quarterly compliance monitoring since 2020; annual mean and maximum per system published by the Environmental Public Health Tracker. Regulation data retrieved September 19, 2026.
