How to read these numbers
This page lists all 307 community water systems in Michigan with UCMR 5 PFAS results, across 63 counties. We compare each one with our 0.5 ng/L PFAS-4 benchmark and with the 4.0 ng/L federal MCL for PFOA and PFOS, which applies from April 2029. UCMR 5 results do not indicate compliance or noncompliance with the PFAS drinking water standards. The samples come from entry points, with 3 to 4 ng/L reporting limits. Michigan also enforces its own PFAS MCLs under Mich. Admin. Code R 325.10604g (table above). State agency: Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Drinking Water and Environmental Health Division. State monitoring: quarterly compliance monitoring since 2021-01-01 for systems with a detection, annual when reliably below the MCLs; results at a 2 ng/L reporting level in the EGLE PFAS open-data table.
